Sunday Report - March 15

Well, decided to join my friend Marty on a Lake Erie trib Sunday morning.  Pretty chilly to start despite the sun...
you know the kind of day, ice on the guides, etc.  Quite a few guys out, not a whole lot going on....I saw one trout,
and had another briefly hooked and that's about it.  All of the other guys we talked to had similar results except
for 1 guy, whom we saw land about an 8lb steelie. Nice fish!

In the afternoon, Marty and I decided to take our boys to the Dunkirk pier.  Not much going on their except for a
couple of carp anglers who were landing 20lber's about every 15 minutes or so.  Had a tendency to back up the
traffic for a moment or two.

But, a nice almost spring day....sure did get the juices flowing!   And have you noticed how a 50 degree day in
most areas of the country is cold, but here in WNY people were in shorts, riding bikes, etc!

Speaking of getting the juices flowing...don't forget the DIscover Chautauqua Steelhead show this weekend at the
Chautauqua Suites Hotel in Mayville, NY.    Capt. Bud (alibi) and I give our seminar at 3 on Saturday.   Make sure
you stop by the booth and say hello!

A SAD NOTE FOR THE WEEK:   Lake Ontario anglers lost a great friend last week with the passing of Joe Riefer,
formerly of Pirate Spoons and Condor Charters, and more recently www.attheoak.com.   Joe and his wife Shirley
maintained the best up to date fishing site on Lake Ontario, and perhaps on the Great Lakes.   We really
appreciated the reports that were posted for our crew (and all the gang from Dunkirk) when we were at the
"Oak", and are glad that we had the opportunity to meet him, and discuss some great Lake Ontario fishing.

Our sincere condolensces to Shirley and the rest of the Riefer family.   We know come spring, Joe will be watching!

John
