French River-May 2009
Well, just got back from our annual northern pike trip to the French River Lodge in Ontario. The lodge is
located on the lower French River south of Sudbury, in northeastern Georgian Bay. We've been back there
every May since the mid-90's with my group, and had been there multiple times in the mid to late 80's
with my father's group.
There were 6 of us for most of the trip, and our aspiring country music singer Sean McGraw (see other blogs)
did a marathon drive from Virginia to join us for the last day!
Overall, we got 380 northerns in 3.5 days of fishing, and released them all. Of those 49 were greater than
22"; with our biggest this year just over 28" long. It was awesome! Litterally for every fish we landed we
had 3-4 others hit, follow or otherwise raise our heart rates.
Here are a couple of pics of the range in fish size....

We had a great time, ate like kings and enjoyed some canadian beverages! Already looking forward to next time!
Now....gotta get the boat in the water this weekend on Lake Erie!! Stand by for walleye reports!!!
