Columbus Weekend

After an absolutely terrible September, Mother Nature sure did give
us a great Columbus Weekend!

We spent a couple of days over at Chautauqua Lake with my son,
my brother and a friend perch fishing, and man, was that GREAT!
As an added bonus, one of my good friend's happened to be in town
for a wedding, so we got to see him a couple of times, along with his
wife and son.

My son and brother fished briefly on Friday, then the 4 of us fished
a couple hours Saturday morning and another couple of hours
Saturday afternoon, and again Sunday morning.   The lake was flat!

We figure that we boated somewhere in the neighborhood of 750-800
fish.   Many times, they bit as fast as you could get the bait in.  Lots of
small ones, and some sunfish, but we ended up keeping about 80 in
that 9-11" range.

Fished the Dewittville area, 10 fow of water was the best.   My son
and I found on Sunday that if you got in to 7-8 fow, that we got way
more sunfish, and as soon as you moved back out to 10-11 fow,
no more sunfish, plus bigger perch.

Simple setup...I was using my Okuma Epixor 25 on a medium
light Okuma spinning rod, #6 Mustad hook with a couple of split shot
and a small float, and a half piece of a panfish worm.   We didn't use
minnows but did talk to some guys in camp that did, and they seemed
to have about the same amount of action as we did.

Below are some of the fish Jack lined up Saturday on the grass, and
also one of the bigger ones.....

Next up....we're off to try our luck striper fishing on Raystown Lake, PA!
