May 7 and May 9

MAY 7

Had some of the Dunkirk crew for our first charter of the season.  Ended up landing a bunch of lakers and a few coho.   VERY buggy today.   Top lures were the Warrior and DW UV Blue.

MAY 9

As they say….what a difference a day (or two) makes.   Today we were able to work out a date to get our new fishing buddy, Buffalo Sabres Coach Dan Bylsma on board with us.

After missing the first couple bites, we finally hooked up with our first king of the season!   Coach had caught kings before on his home waters of Lake Michigan, but we were able to get him on his first Lake Ontario king and coho!

We ended up with 4 kings all about 16 lbs or so, 3 coho and laker and another half a dozen bites and drops.  Not too bad considering the cool water conditions thus far.

Our 300 copper was hot with the DW UV blue, and we took one on the two face spin doctor with a holographic Siggs Rigs fly.   Coho were on the DW Super slims in chicken wing, and Buffalo Bill on the 4 color.

If Mother Nature cooperates, I think the next two weeks its going to be GAME ON!

April 30-Splashdown in Wilson!

Finally!   Splashdown in Wilson and our 2016 Lake fishing season is underway!

Headed out with Jack, Marty and Ethan for the shakedown.  Water temps are a touch on the cool side yet…..come on Mother Nature… you need to warm up Lake Erie so we get some warm water moving into Lake Ontario.

The lake trout didn’t seem to care as we had over 15 fish on!

The 45 and 50 foot rigger was the best using a Warrior Spoon Salmon Candy.  Also took a shot on a DW UV and the NK 42 second spoon.    No real salmon action….just a skipper as we cleared lines.

We have a bunch of days coming so hopefully the kings will get moving from the Canadian side!
